Clean-Me-Up Super Bowls!

My husband reminded me a couple of weeks ago that Super Bowl was coming up and that I better start thinking of our menu for the day. My husband absolutely LOVES football. I detest it. I do, however, LOVE Super Bowl. Why? You may ask. Because it means the end of the football season….can I get a HALLELUIAH!?!

So, on I hopped to the internet to search for some ideas. I googled ‘Super Bowl Food’ and clicked images.

Why must all the food be deep-fried, oozing fat, make you wanna pop your button kind of food?!?! I tried searching ‘Healthy Super Bowl Food’ and did not have much more success. Seems veggie trays are about all people think to serve as a healthy option….So, I thought I would go through my archive of recipes and present you all with options that I would serve at a Super Bowl Party that are healthier, clean options than say…a deep-fried jalapeño popper or a triple cheese spinach dip (C’mon! You are not fooling anyone by throwing spinach in there…).

Guacamole Never Tasted So Good!

Homemade guacamole is the way to go! This is one of the healthiest dips you can serve. Use organic corn chips or fresh veggies and enjoy this creamy goodness!

Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Nut-Free, Dairy-Free, Vegan, Vegetarian.

Goat Cheese Dip

This dip is full of tang without the fat! Best paired with a veggie platter!

Gluten-Free, Vegetarian, Soy-Free, Nut-Free.

March of the Penguins

Want an appetizer that is sure to please anyone? Try these olive stuffed penguins made with the goat cheese dip above.  You could even make mini footballs from the smaller olives!

Gluten-Free, Vegetarian, Soy-Free, Nut-Free.

BBQ Sauce

Avoid the nitrates from store-bought BBQ sauces and use this on your wings or over some root vegetables instead! I’m salivating thinking of this sauce right now…

Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Soy-Free, Nitrate-Free, Dairy-Free

Vegan Chili Tacos with Purple Cabbage Salad

This chili will satisfy any hungry football fan! Full of plant-based protein, enjoy it in a bowl or served in some corn tortillas. Hot sauce optional!

Gluten-Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free.

Nanaimo Bars

For dessert, try this vegan gluten-free version of Nanaimo Bars. Mint. Chocolate. Creamy. Need I say more…?

Gluten-Free, Vegan, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Refined Sugar-Free.

Sweet Potato Brownies

Yup – I even put vegetables in my desserts. These brownies are great served on their own or with a scoop of non-dairy ice cream. Guaranteed to satisfy (and surprise) all your guests with how good they are!

Gluten-Free, Vegan, Dairy-Free, Nut-Free, Soy-Free, Refined Sugar-Free.

I hope I’ve given you all some ideas for the up-coming game. We are definitely going to do the wings in the BBQ sauce, the Chili and dessert is still up for debate. I might make both. Seriously. Have a great weekend everyone!
